Crochet Stiches
Crocheting is a very relaxing hobby for many including myself BUT it did not start our that way. As a beginner I was stressed as I couldn't figure out the basic stitch and based on the tension of the stress I was taking my stress out on the yarn. As a new crocheter here are the 6 basic stitches you should learn first:

Chain Stitch
This is the very first stitch you should learn. As a new crocheter just grab your favorite worsted weight yarn and make chain stitches until it's second nature. The chain stitch is the most basic stitch but you can evolve to other stitches with this one stitch. When making projects you all almost always start with a chain stitch.
How to complete a chain stitch
Make a slip knot then insert your hook
Yarn over and pull your yarn through the new loop
Congrats!!!! You have made your first chain stitch
Repeat steps 1 and 2 for as many times as the pattern outlines
